Panthercage!!!!!
The memo I received is below (remember, I begged):
Dear students,
Are up an entrepreneur? Do you have what it takes to enter the Panther Cage and win $1,000?
This is the first year that SJMC is participating in the Scripps International Innovators Cup, a student competition centered around media and communication innovation and entrepreneurship. This competition is open to all FIU students, and will culminate next March in the ‘Panther Cage’, where five student teams will pitch their ideas to a panel of judges to win the $1,000 first place prize and be sent to San Francisco to compete in the national competition.
Your first step on that journey begins on NOVEMBER 15 at Start-up Saturday, where you will join forces with students from other FIU colleges to form teams, get motivated by speakers, and learn the rules of the competition. It’ll take place at the Graham Center, room 243, starting at 9:30 a.m.
All ideas must revolve around six main challenges, the details of which will be discussed on the 15th:
1. Water Quality Alert
2. Pushing Content to Large Groups
3. Engaging Online Commenting
4. Addressing Sexual Assault
5. Engaging High School Students in Electoral Politics
6. Navigating Communication Majors/Jobs
